To discharge or not

I have a burning question is it really needed to discharge a lipo battery after running?I am running 2 s 6500 battery in on road . Is there any performance advantage or harm to the battery. Let the debate begin

I always keep my lipo's at a storage charge when Im not using them for 36 hours or more..

so Yes discharge them to a storage voltage when not going to use..3.6v a cell 3.75 is ok also.

When I'm done with a lipo after a run, the voltage rest at about 3,7V - 3,8V.

Would it be OK to leave them at that voltage, or should they be discharged to a lower voltage?

I have had good luck with those voltages.

What are the detriments to the battery if a battery is fully charged but then left to sit for a week? A month?

As a rule, you only need two settings on your Lipo charger.

Balance and Storage

If you plan to put it up a while storage charge it, many chargers do not discharge very fast and a large capacity lipo might take a while, may take more than one pass if it was fully charged.

But all the other functions can be ignored and you will have a healthy lipo life cycle. I would not discharge it on the charger, that will run the voltage down too low for storage.

Just get it to its nominal voltage and you will give it its longest life possible. Leaving it fully charged can lead to very high IR, getting out of balance, and even puffing the pack.
