Default M8 missing pixels

I still have my trusty M8 w/spektrum 2.4 mod. and have started to notice the screen is starting to loose pixels here and there. Is this just a bad connection to the LCD screen? I'm an expert surface mount electronics repair guy and do most my work under a microscope all day. I just wanted to be a little more informed before I dive in. These old M8s have a lot of little parts and I hate to take one all the way down if I don't have to.

Dead pixels are usually just dead. After a while the electronic part that created the pixel just wears out.

Crap. That's not good. Sounds like no fixing then?

You could probably find another m8 cheap and swap out the LCD displays. It's just not worth it trying to mend inividual pixels. Not even sure with this if it can be done or not.
