Exclamation Lipo Puffing/Swelling Question

Ok guys so I have a question for all of you. Bought this pack new from AMain January of last year and I'm starting to notice puffing. I haven't used it since I started to notice. I'm pretty sure I did something wrong because I wouldn't think a pack that new would be puffing this much after normal use.

So question is, is there any way to help deflate the puffing or is it unsafe to use? Btw I ran it in my 4x4 sct.

Thanks for the help.

Toss it. That's at the unsafe level of puff.

That's what I'm thinking, it's just hard to toss $110 in the garbage. I'll keep it outside until I can put it in a battery disposal bin.

Yup, that pack's ready for the disposal bin. Unfortunately, 4wd SCTs are notoriously hard on batteries due to the high current demands placed on them in racing conditions.

If you managed to get a year's use out of the battery, I wouldn't consider that all too bad of a lifespan given the application.

i agree. some puffing is ok, but that's beyond what i would feel comfortable running. IMO, use nothing lower than 7000mah (60C or higher) for anything longer than 6 minutes in 4x4SC.

Seems absolutely safe.

I don't know, better safe than sorry. It wasn't you're normal slight puff, it felt pretty squishy so I didn't wanna take a chance

Try an ORCA battery. I have several of them and no puffing. The one I use in mod sedan is almost a year old and has well over 200+ cycles on it and its as flat as the day I bought it. The internal resistance is as low as the day I bought it as well.

Ive purchased so many different brands of batteries. The only two that I have yet to experience "PUFF" from was Thunder Power and Orions. I prefer Thunder Power if money was no object. I bought 3 Reedy batteries for 3 different vehicles and they puffed as well. I am trying 2 TrakPowers and so far so good. 3 months old.

I was referring to the pile of disposed battery packs, I don't know if is the right way to do. Squishy is a sign of going it's way out, you did the right thing and get one of the mentioned good lipos here, I've had good performance and durability from a HK brand but in no way want to sway you one way or another.

Probably time for a new one. If you have a year and a half on the pack in a 4x4 SCT, you got your money's worth.
