Default Servo question

I was wanting to know a few things about servos. I want a servo for my 10 th scale buggy I need speed over torque correct. I am using a TLR 22 2.0 and on 1/8 th I need a high torque correct. Thanks Mike

Solar D770 at Hobbypartz.com should work just fine. I use them in my sct's. Get an extra for backup.

On both speed and torque there is an upper limit to what will serve you and make a difference.

with heavier vehicles and/or larger tires you need torque to execute the move.

both faster and stronger are better, but I am not sure I could tell any difference between .11 and .06, yes one is way faster but the point is I am not going to expect it to make me a better driver beyond some limit.

Also, you have to think real world. For the most part Torque is Torque, going slow or fast it is turning strength. Speed on the other hand is listed at an unloaded value, putting heavier loads on the servo will slow it down, and with less torque behind the more drastic that impact is going to be on your real world tire throwing speed.

I also see more ESCs coming in tune with the idea of 7.4v instead of the standard 6.0v. This higher voltage will in effect get more speed and torque out of a servo. But exceeding your servo specs will in time likely ruin it.

So to the question if you give up torque for speed there could be a diminishing return on that as the speed is measured unloaded and the more you ask a given servo to work the slower it will end up moving. With more torque that impact is lessened. It is all a sliding scale of end results.

for 2wd buggy look for .10 trans or better and more than 130+ oz in torque.

for ⅛ steering in buggy look for .12 of better and preferably 250+ oz in torque

for ⅛ throttle look for .8 or better and 250+ oz in torque

its not an exact science though, and depending on driving, and crashing more torque or speed may be desired.

high speed and torque are important on ⅛ niter throttle as it gives a nippier feel, and stronger breaks.

Ok here is a question that much research has returned me "0" usefull info -
question - what size servo do i need for my truggy - this answer is answerd with = anything o ver 150 oz \ and les than .14 time to 60 - thats great but what i want to know is what is too much torque?
- you will reply " no torque too much " Right!
but the more torque you have the less speed you get .. so....
and cost not an issue , im not rich but i have a budget and im not cheap , so
- weight not an issue unless its made of lead - quality is an issue.. must be top of the line quality - digital , coreless , dual ball bearing, tanium whatever -6.0 , 7.4, 8.4 volt all good , Truck to install on Mugen MBX7TE.
Obviously i can get like 800 oz , and im sure 4,5 or 600 oz will be wasted , but how much, i also want lightning fast,
{the real question} how much torque do i really need where adding an extra 50 oz-in wont make a diffrence, is it 250 , 350 , 400 - then all i need is to find the fastest speed with that torque - has anyone done tests?
