Default What are servo jitters?

I am new to the hobby and have seen this come up on a few threads. I have yet to order electronics and was wondering what jitters are, what causes them and suggestions on a servo for a SCT410. I am most likely going to start with the base model Airtronics MX-V as a transmitter if that makes a difference.

Servo 'jitters' may mean different things to different people but basically I see a jitter as uncommanded movement of the servo. It's usually caused by interference from something however it is very rare now with 2.4Ghz radios. The Airtronics you are choosing is a perfect starter radio which will last you a while. IMHO try to avoid spektrum especially the low end units as I've had lots of issues in servo jitter and general interference. Some people believe servo jitters are where the servo buzzes continually around centre. This happens with digital servos where it is constantly trying to find centre and is perfectly normal.

With regards to a good servo for your SCT. Personally I'd go with one of the Airtronics ERS servos. Excellent quality and not too expensive. Savox is good as well however you need a strong BEC output from your esc to ensure no issues as they are known to be quite power hungry.

I 100% agree with Dan and his answer to your question.

I have heard and read mostly about Savox servos showing this issue, and it is almost always caused by the servo being under powered. Usually adjusting the voltage via the ESC or using a glitch buster solves the issue.

I am currently using the Airtronics MX-V and it has been a great radio. I have had absolutely no issues, and it is more than adequate for someone who is new to or reentering the hobby.

I use the Hitec HS-5625MG servo and a SpeedPassion Revention S ESC, and have had no servo jitter or other electrical gremlins.

Running an analog servo on a digital radio with a relatively high frame rate (which most of them have) can cause "jitters" (oscillation) due to increased loop gain. Digital servos don't have this problem.
