Default RX8 Gen1 vs. Gen2

Hey everyone,
I'm still pretty new to this and I have done a search here on the forums but I still can't seem to find a straight answer. Is it really worth it to have a gen 2 rx8 vs. a gen 1? It's for a Losi scte with a pro4 4600 motor. I'm looking to pick one up on the for sale section but I don't know if it's worth the extra money. What's the difference? Any info and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you goto teamtekin.com you'll be able to see the specs yourself and decide. Basically I've found the Gen2 to be on the whole more reliable, higher output, currently support software, HW 2.0 compatible and has the HV 7.4v BEC which is brilliant too.

Go for the Gen 2 it is worth the extra pennies.

If your Gen1 is in good shape it is worth keeping.

The Gen2 adds three features and has planned firmware support / updates (I think the Gen1 is done as far as firmware R&D)

1 - you can run a high voltage setting for the BEC on the Gen2
2 - you do have data logging on the Gen2
3 - you have the data port which is handy at times on the Gen2

If your goal is to run a HV servo for more speed and torque it may be worth ditching a perfectly good Gen1 for a Gen2. Other than that they compete very well against each other in my opinion.

All good info. Thanks so much. Like I said I currently am running a viper combo but have a BNIB pro4 4600 and I wanted to match it to an rx8. This is for pretty much just club racing in 4wd sct. It sounds like for my needs a 1st gen would be just fine. Thanks again for the input everyone.
