Default Bind 1 Receiver to 2 Transmitters

I have not tried it, but I should be able to bind 1 receiver to 2 different transmitters, correct?

I want to be able to bind a RX-472 receiver with both my sons MT-4 and my MT-4S (when it arrives).

No experience with that combo, but I doubt it. The idea of binding a receiver to a transmitter is generally to prevent any other transmitter taking control, or interfering.

I agree with you that the idea of binding a receiver to a transmitter is to prevent any other "unbound" transmitter from taking control. The thing that I am not sure about is if the binding could occur with 2 transmitters.

It seems like you could as the receiver is "dumb" in that the memory of the binding is stored in the transmitter and not the receiver. The receiver has an ID that it outputs that is stored in the transmitter that allows the two to communicate.

Once I get my MT-4S I will have to try it to see if it can be done.

Why would you want two transmitters to control one car? Juust hand back and forth the one that is bound.

I will be using the MT-4S with the Sanwa Super Vortex Zero ESC in my buggy and I would like to put the same ESC in my sons buggy. If I can bind a RX-472 receiver to both his MT-4 and my MT-4S I would be able to make adjustments to his ESC from my transmitter.

I don't think you can, but I've also never tried.

It might be a situation where you'd have to rebind it every single time you switch cars.

After doing some research, it appears that the receiver does remember what transmitter was bound to it. Therefor, if I wanted to control a receiver from two transmitters, I would need to save the settings on each transmitter, but I would have to rebind the receiver when switching back and forth between transmitters.

According to the instructions, the Traxxas TQi line lets you bind multiple receivers to multiple transmitters. Traxxas says this is a benefit because if all your TX's are bound to all your RX's, you don't have to worry about which TX to use for any given car.
