Buying wire for esc

I am trying to find black 12 gauge wire to wire up my Reventon Pro. I accidentally bought some copper wire. Do you guys have links or places with good pricing on the correct wire?

copper wire is what you want. I have heard good things about the deans wet noodle wire.

I use TQ13 for all my wiring jobs, including mod.

Maybe it's the strand thickness or something but it looks different than the esc wire that came off of the esc. And the solder won't take at all.

I hate to bump this thread but I have to ask.

I ordered this wire and I am having the same issue as before as this is copper wire. It must be the type of solder I am using. What solder would you guys recommend? I have typically used silver wire for wiring jobs without issue.

asc6000 02-09-2014 09:10 AM

plain ole 60/40 rosin core

Hoese37 02-09-2014 09:20 AM

Yeah im not a fan of TQ wire. Try Deans wet noodle or tekin wire.

Hmmm I will have to check to see what I am using when I get home. It has worked perfectly so far, but I cannot get it to stick to the TQ wire.

I have some MuchMore Racing 12 gauge that is awesome. Problem is now I have the TQ wire, plus another 10 feet of copper wire 12 gauge I would love the ability to use if needed.

Are you using flux? If you can't get solder to stick to the TQ wire either you are doing something wrong with your soldering technique or you have the wrong solder. I prefer Kester 63/37 solder.

 Or the iron is the issue.

Hoese37 02-09-2014 09:58 AM

Ive never had good luck when the wire is sill a bright copper color, rather than more of a silver color. Otherwise I need the iron super hot to get it to flow into the wire.

Its not a rosin core solder I am almost positive of that, so that could be. I have a new Trackpower TK-950 so the iron is not the issue. I am on the road for work but I will check tonight when I get home. I am just trying to wick some solder onto the wire before I solder it to the ESC and it will not take.
