ESC Throttle Issue
#1
I have a Novak Pulse with the M12 SSR that I am trying use with a Spektrum DX3R Pro transmitter. I can not get the throttle to work. I have tried different receivers with same results.
I have verified that the ESC is in standard mode not the enhanced mode for the M12. I performed the one step setup. I did a data reset. Always the same results, I get the red light, blinking white...red is status, white is blinky. Pull trigger get solid green indicating throttle applied, red goes out, if I push trigger forward green blinks indicating reverse throttle applied. I did the hall sensor test that the ESC provides, it passed.
If I run the throttle trim on the transmitter up to 100% the motor runs and I can apply a slight amount of throttle.
Any thoughts on what is going on or how to fix it? I did send Novak an email today but was hoping one of the rctech experts would have an answer.
Thanks,
Bill

It sounds like you set your end points incorrectly, that's why you can only do it when you turn throttle trim up. It I remember correctly when selling up it is hold the button, turn on. Light should change, pull to full throttle, light should change, push to full reverse, light change, let return to neutral trigger, lights should do their flash dance thing, and points are set.

Its been my understanding that not all motors are compatable with all Novak esc's, due to not having a temp sensor output on the motor (or something like that) This could be the case here, do you have another motor just for testing purposes?

Just remember to re do the one touch programming for the throttle points again after reversing the throttle servo direction on the radio

The original Havoc was the only esc that had that issue.

I tried both idea...used a different, clean model memory and tried reversing the throttle channel. Reset end points both times. Same results. Thanks for the thought!

does that esc have a dead band setting for the throttle? I know my tekin rx8 gen2 and viper both will not work if this setting isn't right.
to me it sounds like you have it bound properly and all but now you need to go through and set up the setting of the esc to function with your radio and motor properly.
none of my cars have ever worked right out of the gate after installing a new esc. I always have had to go through the setting and make it right.

I see your esc has the dead band setting as well as a "minimum drive" setting. which says the following,
" Increasing this setting starts forward drive at a stronger/higher level"
also if that radio has any kind of traction control stuff try turning that stuff off for now.

I did a data reset which puts the ESC back to factory defaults for throttle profile number 1. Are you thinking I should raise or lower the settings for Dead Band and Minimum Drive? The radio has traction control but it is off, I have never tried the feature.
Thanks,

Out of curiosity - how old is the Pulse? Is it the version 1.2? If not, it may not operate correctly utilizing the high speed SSR mode on the M12. If it is the newest version, while in the custom programming mode you will have 19 choices (the trans/receiver rate selection will be the red and green lights)
IF you don't have the newer version, you should be able to change the M12 out of the high speed setup for the next one down and see corrected performance.
