ESC Known to work with 17.5 Maxzilla
Long story short. I have 2 17.5 max's that will not run on the r10 pro or the viper vtx10r. If I bump start them they will run or if I run them on a tekin rx8 gen 2 they will run fine. One was brand new and one was out of a running car( I forgot to ask what esc they were using)
I would really like to run the maxzilla because many times we have to run in open 2wd as there are not enough people to run 17.5 |
Im not positive, but i am pretty sure they should run with hobby wing. I have never heard of any issues with the hobby wing escs not working with those types of motors. (only issue i heard was with a tenshock motor)

I thought hobbywing and orion were the same ESC. They will not run sensorless on the r10 pro either. They try and do spin a but but nothing that is driveable.
both the hobbywing v3.1 and the r10 pro are sensor less/sensored escs. |
Shouldn't any sensored ESC work with it:confused:

You need to check you boards inside of your motors then. We run d3.5 maxes on every esc known to man with out a single issue, all sensored. Sounds like a sensor board in your motor issue, or bad sensor wire issue.
Also Hobbywing makes the boards for orion, but orion writes its own program and code. |

Sounds like a different problem. Both of those are very good ESCs. Have you tried changing the sensor wires? Sensor boards? Most of the time, cogging issues (what you're experiencing) is most likely the motor, not the ESC.
|
Agreed... Swap the sensor wire first, since that's the easiest fix. I'd also try connecting a different brand of motor to make sure the ESCs are working as intended. If that motor works properly, you might be looking at a sensor board issue (I've had several Trinity/Epic - based motors that had sensor board issues right out of the package, so I wouldn't be surprised if a different sensor board corrects the issue.)

That would be too easy lol. It appears certain combos do not like each other. Having 2 r10 pros and 2 max's I am confident there is an issue with this combo.
Your idea of having combos not working well doesn't really make sense. Btw are you running sensored or sensor less? I can't see why anybody would ever want to run sensor less |

If the trinity sensor was bad why would it work perfectly fine on the rx8 in sensored mode? Running sensorless just proves that the sensor board is not the problem. the orion will switch to sensorless and "should" at least run the motor. If you read the orion thread there are indeed motors the r10 does not like. It is also not what I believe is a cogging issue. It will not start at all unless you push the car first. |

Plenty of sensor wires have been tried on both orions and both maxzilla's.

That's usually a sensor head issue. As in your motor needs a new sensor head/assembly, not just a new wire. |
My friends and I have been running Maxzillas on R10's no issues at all
