:D

need help brown outs servo sp6070 esc is tekin rs gen 2 rx is a sr 300 with cap now what?

ThePanda 12-28-2013 06:46 PM

does it work at all (servo, receiver)? because if not, it could be a dead internal bec.

what servo brand is it? i cannot find that servo at amain or tower.

You might just need to use an external bec. since after using a receiver cap, and that not working, a bec is next.

Get an airtronics radio and receiver. Problem solved.

Or could be considered a D bag comment. Since I haven't had to use an Airtronics product to solve a problem since the late 80's.

(which is before your were born Panda)

Guy at my track is running the same setup (spektrum radio/Tekin RS & tried RS Gen2, Spektrum servo) and having the same issue. I'm running the same as him except I'm using the Airtronics MT-4 and have had zero issues.

Not saying Airtronics is the solution but is there anyone that can maybe let you try a different radio in your car?

no offense, but it wasn't until you made it one. Spektrum is known for having "issues" that other radio systems are known not to have. maybe a new radio was not appropriate, but at least trying it with someone else's is a good idea (EricW for officially suggesting that)

theblitzkidd 12-29-2013 06:21 AM

I suggest the external bec, I have seen a couple of the tekins have this done!!

Johnnysplits 12-29-2013 06:28 AM

I agree...power the servo with an external VR.

doc danger 12-29-2013 06:42 AM

I got out of r/c several years back and then decided 2 years ago to get back in full swing. I needed everything to get back up and running. I bought a spektrum radio, savox servo, and a novak esc. Those were all good when I sold everything before.
I fought "brown out" from day one. Tried the capacitors, tried different servos, tried different receivers, tried sensor wires, tried a new on/off switch, tried new battery plugs. Heck, I even threw away a couple of cheaper servos thinking that was the problem. After 6 months of that and listening to my friends telling me to get rid of the spektrum, I sold the radio and got Airtronics. Problem gone and I was kicking myself for wasting the money in the first place.
Heaven help you if you have Spektrum, Savox, and a Castle system. That is the "newb" trifecta of doom. They are cheap, so new r/c people flock to them. Experienced racers don't run any of that stuff. There is a reason for that.

Couldn't agree more Doc. I've had problems in the last with Spektrum, savox combos. Went over to Sanwa (Airtronics) years ago and never looked back. Savox servos are fine so long as the ESC BEC is up to par. The Tekin RS Gen 2 has a 2A BEC which is plenty powerful enough to prevent brown out with savox servos. You could try to change the BEC to 7.2v (need Hotwire to do that) however not sure the Spektrum Rx can handle HV? Seriously though consider ditching the Spektrum stuff and get a Sanwa/Airtronics kit I promise you won't be sorry.

If you had a castle bec, you can program it via castle link from your computer.
