While running the car car shuts down completely for no reason. Everything is connected correctly, all the wires are connected without any breaks. I've had it happen 2 times and can't figure out why. Anyone else have an experience like this?

We had a very similar experience with the GenII in my sons buggy, drove me nuts, cost him a couple of races in stock buggy, he would slap coming off one of the jumps and the would just die. I would get it from the marshall and it would be on and work just fine. Ended up being on of the leads on the stator was loose so when he slapped the motor would lose connection and not work, when I picked it up and moved all the wires it would work again. Since getting new motors we have not had this happen again, so maybe you could check that out on your car as well.

Well the thing the whole thing shuts down, not just the motor. I've checked ever connection with no luck. It just happens sporadically, I've tried everything I know short of pulling the ESC out of the buggy.

We also had an issue with a BH LT4, that one was a broken ground wire, inside the insulation, took a little while to find that one, started wiggling all the wires until we witnessed it cut out while it was in our hands.

I'll pull all the wiring this weekend and re solder new ones in. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll give that a shot and hopefully that is what it was.

I just ordered 2 120a turbo esc's, turbo program box and a 10.5t motor to try out. Hope they are as good as people say!

Has anyone tried flashing software via usb to the new Trackstar Turbo 120 esc's? I would think the HW usb would work on these but I could be wrong.

Other than the Turnigy Trackstar GenII 120A 1/10th Scale Sensored Brushless Car ESC - PC Programmable, does any of the other esc's mentioned on this thread have a "blinky" mode that will pass a tech inspection?

My 80 amp trackstat turbo blinks when there's no timing or turbo set. So, that should be good to go in the spirit of the rules. Only thing is if your track is strict on ROAR, the ESC's are not listed.

I had my first run with the Trackstar Turbo 120 paired with a 7.5 in my XB4. I usually run a Brushlesshobbies 120 and a Reedy Sonic 7.5 motor. I bought this set up out of curiosty because of the price point and the strong resemblance to the Orion and Reedy Sonic. I was very impressed with it. The motor has a little more toque then the Reedy so its not quite as smooth but has very similar top end. The esc is as smooth as anything I have ever used and ran cool all day,ESC 120 degrees and motor 140's.

Are you able to program the 80amp with the button on the switch or not

Well it wouldn't be fair for me not to share this since I have said that we have had nothing but good luck with the trackstar ESCs. Yesterday, race day, got to the track around 5, started practicing, car ran great, wanted to adjust the drag brake, adjusted with the program box, threw her back on the track ran great then just died. no reason, just dead. went and picked it up, turned right back on, ran maybe half a lap, died again. Switched batteries, ran heat one, 10 seconds left, I spun out, car dies. Turns right back on. Heat two, buddy suggested a cap, threw it in, made it half way down the straight at about 3/4 speed, car dies straight into the wall. Luckily nothing broke. We tried reflashing the ESC and then redoing all my settings, threw it on the track between races worked great. Mains come around, car feels great, running great, hit the triple one last time car dies. Marshal hands it to me it turns right back on, set it on track getting ready to line up car dies, night over. This morning a buddy suggests switching sensor wires, did that ran it out front felt great ran for about 4 mins, then dies, now wont turn back on. I have no idea what happened, no loose wires or connections. This was the Gen II trackstar. Pretty bummed out, but what can you do.

Possibly overheat protection kicking in.

I thought of that too, but i have it set at 185, and with running the fan my esc only gets to about 93. it may have a coincidence but its weird how it all started from lowering my drag brake setting.

Just installed 120a turbo in my b5. Hope it works out...

I've run the Gen 2 120 esc in my stadium truck with a 13.5 in its first race just recently. It was great, very smooth, seemed to need a little more brakes but I have now put more brakes into it with the set-up box. I bought another for my buggy, but haven't ran it yet, hoping to very soon.
