Power supply question
#1
New to dc chargers but I orderd a setup off here.
How do you know how big of power supply u need for the chargers. I'm getting 2 muchmore 200w 10amp chargers with a 24amp power supply will that be plenty. I don't get all this charging stuff on dc lol

Depends on the batteries you plan to charge, and what charge rate (amps). If they are typical 1/10 scale 2S packs then no problem. 3S would be close but possibly doable at the full 10 amps each, 4S and up would be limited in amperage. 5S and up would be charger limited too, even with a bigger supply, due to the 200W charger limit.
Here is a charging power calculator that may be helpful.

Right now I'm using the hitec 4 bank ac and it only goes to 6amps and 50 watts

The most that charger can do is 200w total. To make your batts last longer you should charge 1A per 1000mah. Ex. a 4s 5000 batt. should be charged at 5Amp. That would need a 200w charger. So that supply will keep up with that charger.
For the money if you want more power you should get a server power supply. They put out 40 to 50amp, and a dual 400w charger like a Racers Edge twin 400 (it puts out 2 200w channels). With that you can do 2 4s 5000 packs at the same time charging them at 5 amps ea.

4s would be charging at 6.5 amps n 2s at 7.2 amps

The 2S will be easy, leaves the option for higher charge rates if desired.
Only need more if you think you might want to consider higher rate charging at some point in the future. Which many are doing with little issue.

are you saying you have the X4 hitec charger? I have that charger it will not charge at 5 or 6 amps on the 14.8 battery. most it will do is 3.4
even the 2s most it normally does is 4. the 50Watt per channel is what kills it. you'll just have to wait longer for a charge than one with more watt per channel.
if you have time for it the slower charge is actually better anyway.

Thanks for all the help guys I just wanted to make sure I can do the. 2 4s lipos at the same time with that power supply .
My hitec x4 will do my 2s at 6 amps the entire time just not the 4s lipos. I don't like to keep a bunch of lipos so just keep 4 for each car and charge em up
