WARNING! - Don't update firmware!

All,

I think ACCA got hosed too, but I just for all intents "bricked" two of my Trackstar 150A escs and if ACCA's Skyrc is doing the same then it may apply there too.

I had issues w/ my program box so I connected to my pc and it prompted for an update so I did it...no problem. Then when I connected my esc it too prompted to update...big problem. Once the update finished it power cycled and will no longer connect. Box gets Connection Failed and pc app says the same. I thought maybe the first one was a fluke so tried my other one and same problem. After checking w/ HobbyKing chat support product specialist, they informed me there's a "note" on the product page that says if you update the firmware you won't be able to use the program card/pc link any more and the esc will be loaded with a default/stock profile that can't be changed. He did say it would be F/R/B, and LVC 3.2, and the throttle could be calibrated but that's it. I thinks it's a bad move and either a cover for bad firmware, licensing requirement from SKYRC (but sounds like theirs may be doing the same according to ACCA), or maybe they've just had too many people blow them up by changing settings so they locked them down for the RTR crowd. In any case it's really frustrating as it WAS a great budget esc with awesome tuning options, and with the Trackstar being $68 it was almost a steal as mine have been running for a couple of years but I've also heard of quality issues for some people. If Skyrc is also doing the same with their firmware I'll no longer be recommending these models to friends, and if they're doing it with other models then I'll have to change brands as well.

I tried to post a review/warning on HK but since they upgraded their site it lost order history, so I'm not able to review the products I've bought prior to 2017. Not that they wouldn't edit/remove a negative review or anything.

I'm going to check w/ Skyrc and see if they're able to help but I doubt they'll toss me a bone.

Just connected my pc to my program box and esc with the trackstar software. There is a new update for the program box firm ware Version 2.07.
I updated the program box and now it will connect to the esc just like it did before I started messing with it.
I hope this V 2.07 will help every one else

The 2.07 firmware for the program box just showed up when I opened the PC Trackstar software.

Does anyone know if there is iphone app for the Trackstar ESC's I had the SKyRC wifi link and connected it to my Trackstar GENII 120a esc. it connected to my phone but the SKTRC APP could not see the esc.
Is there a Trackstar APP.

I also have had good luck connecting the Trackstar programing box to the GENII 120A esc and then to my PC running the Trackstar link program 2.06

Is anyone still running on of these? Mine is still working like new but the BEC is weak, especially for modern HV servos, so I fixed that. :Dhttps://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...f8fc575105.jpg
