Default VTA

What is the best 25.5 turn motor to run in VTA? Also what is the best batt out there to get?

VtA runs 21.5 motors.

USVTA rules require Novak SS, Ballistic, Club, or Boss 25.5 motors. ROAR allows any brand 25.5 motor, but it's usually best to stick with Novak so you can race anywhere without hassles. When all brands are raced, the Novaks still win or do well. There is no magic motor.

There are still a few places running 21.5 motors, so you should check with the track where you intend to race.

The USVTA rules are here:

http://www.usvintagetransam.com/rules/index.html

Almost any 5000mAh 2s LiPo will do fine, since the motors draw so little current.

You'll get more answers than you ever wanted if you post your questions here:

I've heard of variations that allow 21.5 in VTA but official rules are 25.5. USGT on the other hand is 21.5.

The only VTA motors that are legal are

Novak SS25.5 Pro brushless motor (pn:3425V)
Ballistic 25.5 (pn:3625V- stator only pn:S6625)
Club (pn:3331)
Boss (pn:3626V)

I would shy away from the SS as it has fixed timing on the can.

Better reasons to avoid the SS are the hard-wired sensor cable and the non- replaceable stator. All of the motors offer the same amount of power.

As for batteries - buy a 5000mah battery from your preferred manufacturer, and go race. I haven't seen one off-the-shelf pack outperform another, and I've tried most of them.

Looking to replace my VTA esc. I currently have the LRP A.I., but there is no adjustment for a drag brake. Any suggestions?

They aren't available new. Besides, the newer ballistic and boss motors are much better.
