There's a nasty rumor on the Vortex thread in the electronics section that says ROAR nixed it in its current form and they needed an additional locked mode added.

ROAR = another lame move.... If this is true. The speedo with receiver was a bargain and pretty amazing.

It should only affect the Blinky class, I'm going get it because the RX-472 plus Vortex deal is too sweet to pass up

Sanwa Vortex Zero esc/RX472

The setup with this esc and the transmitter is like the other esc, then you have to setup the remote to be able to change the parameter of the esc via the transmitter.
I had fun with the Japanese instruction but now there is an English manual
http://www.airtronics.net/media/uplo...sers_Guide.pdf
There 4 functions that doesn’t adjust with the transmitter, you will have to do these functions manually on the esc :
Cut-off voltage
Reverse (enable/disable)
Thermal protection
Timing advance (disabled/enabled) at disable is the blinky mode and the last 3 functions will be disable at the transmitter.

The functions that are adjustable with the transmitter are :
Full brake rate
Drag brake
Feel drive
Neutral brake feel
Brake feel
Boost rate timing advance (only if the timing advance is enabled on the esc)
Turbo (only if the the timing advance is enables on the esc)
Power mode (only if the timing advance is enables on the esc)

At the display you have the batt volt, temp of the esc, temp of the motor (it’s not all motor that show the temp)

When you adjust manually (count the led on the esc) some of the parameter are by multiple of 10 (10%,20%....to 100%) but on the transmitter these are by multiple of 1 (1%,2%...to 100%) that what I call fine tuning.. and you can do it on the driver stand
TheSilverSpider likes this.

In what way is that much better then a Flow? I use an m12 so i have interest in this speedo, but the Flow is probably sort of like a benchmark in the industry. I can't imagine it is really so much better then a flow.

And don't get me wrong, i have a Flow, but i also have a Toro, and a Tekin, And a Hobbywing, and a Turnigy 120amp so i am not biased.

Just curious.

So is this ever going to be ROAR legal? They are advertising it as such...

And it's approved... And neutered....

http://roarracing.org/approved_non_timing_escs.php

Can't be used with the 472 receiver. I also can't get the "details" after clicking on the link (and yes I was logged into the ROAR forums at the time).

Insanely lame....

Airtronics answered me on facebook with that it has been approved for awhile but not on the list. They posted up yesterday morning that it was on the list. As for the neutering that is probably is because some other manufacturer bitched about the SSL features.

I blame Novak!

"What's that? A great speedo with telemetry and a receiver/speedo combo for not too much more than a Reedy or Orion with a programming box? Can't have that"!

I wonder if this will carry over to the new Futaba and any other future real time telemetry capable radios?

Switching from boost to blinky is a non-issue as it is one of the most painful to program via the buttons speedos out there.

*Shrug* hopefully there will be clarifications as to what ROAR didn't like so nobody else tries to put out a technologically advanced bargain.

Mike

I just didn't want to say it... Also I don't why we can't use the SSL you can't change out of blinky mode with the transmitter anyways. So what is the problem?

Actually the issue is Transmitter Manufacturers won't give access to proprietary stuff like SSL to ESC Manufacturers. When Futaba and Specktrum come up with a similar idea, I betting it will hurt alot of the ESC manufacturers.
Cause I have to admit this thing is slick.

Just got a SVZ/472 combo to go in my TC and WOW! The speedo is a great size, and I LOVE the way the wires attach for the motor. Can't wait to get it wired up in the car.

Any tips/tricks or things I need to worry about?

One thing to watch for is that you can only change programming values (non-aux values) when the radio is off (super fast blinking blue light). You can only change from SSL enabled mode (solid green) to non-SSL mode (flashing green) with the radio on.

Some of those things aren't exactly clear in the manual.

No worries at all. It's insanely rock solid. Has anybody noticed the new combo version with the receiver built in? Mega-hawt!
