MyLaps RC4 Decoder disconnecting from PC
#1
Decoder was working perfectly fine in the evening making takes without a problem. Race time comes and all of a sudden rc4 decoder starts acting up. It disconnects and connects and just wont keep connected to pc.
Rc4 is connected via ethernet cable. Network settings on decoder is set to auto. Clock is already set correctly.
Screen ln Rc4 keeps showing connected and 10 secs later shows disconnected.
Would anyone one what happened or is there anything we got to do? Thanks in advance.
Technical notes: using sparcs v.2 windows 7 ultimate(fresh install) 32 bits.

Have you used this combo of decoder, computer and software successfully previously?
Have you used this decoder with another computer/software successfully before this?
The decoder has 3 protolcols; Remote, Enhanced and P3. I think Remote is default, try P3.
Are you using the ethernet cable that came with the decoder directly to the computer? The black cable with red connectors that comes with the decoder is a crossover cable not a standard cable.
I assume from your post your computer and operating system is 32bit. If your system is 64bit and the Sparc software is 32bit, is the software installed in the "Program Files (x86)"?
Have you tried to update the LAN drivers on your machine?
Can you try installing on another computer?
Last resort is maybe downloading a trial version race management program that allows the use of the ethernet cable, like JLap?

I would hook it up with a serial cable and if you don't have a serial input on your pc then get a serial to usb adapter and then use a usb connection. I was pretty sure Doug told me not to use ethernet because it was having issues with RC4....

I've done extensive testing with with the RC4 using the TCP protocol (ethernet) without a single glitch. I've also talked with many RC4 users and haven't heard of any connection issues. Of course the scoring software has to support TCP to make use of it!
