I belive the HotWire is required to alter a few things you can't do with the buttons alone like the BEC voltage output.

Can all settings be done by button pressing or is the hotwire needed?

-BEC Voltage -Reverse Motor Rotation with no delayed reverse -Custom Voltage Cut off -Push Control -Brake Minimum -Reverse Speed -Reverse Delay (V254 Software on RX8 G2) -Throttle Minimum -Throttle Curves |
I love havin my Hotwire and an android tab at the track. You can do most things on the esc but u cannot fine tune all the options like u can with Hotwire. Like the buttons are multiples of 5 or 10 using the esc where using Hotwire u can change things by +/- 1

Hey fellows,, I was making some adjustments yesterday and pulled the bottom off my esc . I couldnt believe how much dirt was in the bottom of this unit!. Only been ran 3x.. Anyway can this cause a short the dirt was up to circuit board. I was dry dirt , but IDK ??
Was thinking off getting a set of panty hose to cover esc .. Afraid of overheating though.. OR not needed ? |
What are the stock setting that the esc reverts back to when you do a reset?
Is it listed somewhere? Thanks |

Faster in reverse
I just completed the electric conversion on an old Losi LST2, used the Tekin RX8 ESC and brushless/sensored motor combo, the truck is running faster in reverse. Can anyone shed some light on this? I've looked thru the manual and searched on the web which is how I found this site but have come up with nothing so far.
Thanks for reading. |
I recently installed a new RX8 Gen2 1350kv sensored setup in my ET48(17T pinion), replacing the RX8 Gen2 TP Powers 1090kv sensorless setup I had. I had few issues, after binding & calibrating(w/o pinion installed), I went to run it & it went WOT for no reason. I re-calibrated the ESC & it seemed to be ok. It sounds odd, @ 1/4 throttle & above it makes a strange noise (compared to the previous setup), it's like a crackling/screech. Any ideas?
I have sense adjusted the RX8, putting it at 0deg timing, turned off the current limiter, & changed to a 18T pinion. I have yet to run it w/the new changes. Edit: I got a full run in, the noise is less noticeable now only ~1/3-1/2 throttle. It still feels under geared. Some of my temps were high: motor 189, batt 140, cd 133, & esc 110(outside temp ~75 & humid, batt SMC 6s 60c 3600mah). Am I over or under geared? Edit: I went up to a 21T pinion & didn't get a full run, my cheap servo may have fried. It didn't help my temps motor 205, batt 135, esc 130. |

I had a question for those running Tekin Hotwire interface with their Rx8's. I have a Winbook 7" tablet that I run it on, but the window itself is so darn small that I can barely do anything with my fat fingers, and it's a little small to read. I tried dragging it bigger, but didn't have any luck there. Is there a way to resize this?
It doesn't have the option to maximize screen. |
Total newbie here: After enabling fwd/brake/reverse + delay, the car will go into reverse for about a second and a half and then the pinion will kind of just click/spin freely (T8 motor) and stop reversing. Am I doing something wrong here?

Currently you cannot resize the window. You can however change the resolution on your monitor to make it easier to read.

Joining the Tekin esc gang. Need that Hotwire badly! Of course my protek servo is a voltage whore. Think I will toss in a castle bec for good measure.
