Default Weird problem

Hi all. In my dirt oval car I have an RX8 that runs a Toro brushless 4600kv motor. I use a Gens ace 5000mah battery, the motor and esc are connected by 4mm bullets and the lipo and esc are deans. Today while running two of my lipos had one wire each come unsoldered, what could be happening? The motor wasnt even that warm yet.

I'm assuming this came off of the lap joint on the deans plug? You might consider running a better plug than deans -- something like the big bullets. Deans are good plugs, but there isn't much room to make a strong lap joint there and if you're not making the best solder joints in the world (like pressing down and making a good NOT cold lap joint), then they can easily have high resistance, heat up, and melt off.

Another possibility is that something hit it and it shorted out and popped the solder.

Dunno, these are Gens ace factory soldered deans, and I used them without any trouble all last racing season. If it's not a electronics issue I will try the 6mm bullets, is that what you suggest?

I have heard that dirt oval cars draw a ton of current. If that is the case, you would want to run a higher C rated battery.

I run gens ace 65c. It's in a Losi TEN SCTE, and the current limiter is set at 75

Check for any binding... Wiggle your outdrives, is there a lot of play In them? Pull your pinion off and grab your spin both of your wheels in the same direction and feel for a slight bind or high spot. This was happening to mine and a couple other guys where having the same issue and that's what was causing it. The shaft on the outdrives get very worn from the bushing in the diff case.

Probably not the issue then.

Nope, no binding. But did, just prior to this problem, change diff fluid to 10-10-3

Is there a lot of play in the outdrives? Wiggly them and check the front and rear outdrives by seeing how much play is in them
