Lithium battery charging question

Not sure if anyone here can help, I have a 1:1 race car and have bought a Braille lithium battery (G9) I have a Turnigy charger for my TC and I can select 11.1V (3 cell) or 14.8V (4 cell) the Braille charger has an output of 13.8-14.4V at 2-10amps dependant on the charger, is it OK to use the Turnigy ? if so what settings

There are different types of lithium batteries, I suggest first determining what they are to get the correct charger settings. I suspect none of the mentioned lithium polymer (lipo) settings are appropriate.

The Braille site calls them lithium ion (li ion), but from the voltage specs they might be lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4). I know of others who have used 4S A123 LiFePO4 batteries in vehicles as a direct substitution like these apparently are.

I don’t know if the Turnigy charger has all of the lithium type charge settings, probably does.

Thanks guys, yes wasn't 100% sure as the Turnigy didn't have a 14.4V setting and the Braille site doesn't list the amount of cells in the G9.

Does it have a 4S 13.2V setting? Note there is a difference between nominal and full charge voltages.

Dave the Turnigy has 11.1V 3cell and 14.8V 4cell, may have to buy a Braille charger, I have too many chargers.

It doesn't have settings for other battery types? Look there if it does, that battery sure doesn't appear to be a lipo.

P.S. Try pressing the left button until the display flashes, then + or - to get it to Life.

Not sure which Turnigy charger you have, but I just looked at an Accucell 6 manual, you may have to go into User Set Program to get it to a different lithium mode.

Life nominal voltage is 3.3V, maximum of 3.6V. 4 cells of 3.6 = 14.4V, same as the maximum of the Braille charger specs.

Thanks Dave yes went into the menu and selected Lilo (Lithium ION) and I can select 14.4V 4cell, the Turnigy also confirms the battery is a 4 cell.

Again I'm not sure, but I think you need Life, 13.2V 4 cell nominal. Which will charge to 14.4V full charge, apparently like the Braille
charger specs.

Lilo 4 cell will charge to 16.4V.
