Default broken antennae wire!

So i got a KO Propo EX-10 Helios transmitter equipped with a Spektrum SM1001 2.4GHz transmitter module. the other day a buddy managed to break the antenna wire on it. i didnt think it would work, but i tried soldering a small wire on it (about 6 inches long) and it didnt. my range is only about 5ft.

anyone know how i can fix my antenna, or, what modules will work with my Spektrum SR3000 recievers and also plug into my EX-10 Helios?

apparently the part number for the SM1001 module antenna is part number SPM75001. however, its out of stock EVERYWHERE because its been discontinued for so long >.>

Where is it broken?

The radiating part of a 2.4ghz antenna must do 3.1mm

If it is a coax cable you could cut it down and remove 3.1mm of the shielding

its almost completely gone. i removed the antenna from the circuit board and the total length is about a piece the length of your thumb nail.

3.1mm? That seems pretty short. Maybe 3.1 cm?

I just broke the wire on my stock TT MT4 G3 receiver too. Tried soldering it, but same deal - 5-foot range... Ended up having to cut the antenna off at the bottom(had soldered it in the truck so it'd be in the antenna tube..)

Anyway, I actually like this radio for my bashers, and the receivers(trs401ss) are surprisingly expensive new. I would like to solve this as cheaply as possible.. Can I just get a new wire for it somehow? Anybody got a link? Took the case off - this is what it looks like:

the connector on the wire that attaches it to the board looks exactly the same as mine. im starting to think maybe its a universal plug and any 2.4GHz antenna wire will fit. i messaged the guy that was mentioned in the above post and im awaiting a response, but in the mean time im starting to consider just ordering a random antenna to see if the wire will plug into my board

this one says reciever antenna, but i have a feeling it might work as a transmitter antenna as well:

or i could get something like this:

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...mitter-Antenna

the plug looks the same, but im still not 100% sure if it will work or not

found this too:

it should work for your reciever, but im not sure if a reciever antenna can be used on a transmitter. does anyone know if there is a difference between a 2.4GHz transmitter antenna and receiver antenna, or can one be used for both?

I've found a guy on a German forum who's gonna' give me some old Futaba antenna wire to try.. He said it should work.

Not sure about getting the old one off... ??

Another guy btw says he's been running all winter with the antenna from an old wireless router box..... I don't have an old one to try.. But it is funny how similar the folding antenna is to those found on a lot of radios.. Just white ha ha..

That's a common plug, you could also use a laptop internal wifi antenna

Depending on the receiver the antenna will sometimes plug into the circuit board. In that case you might be able to use one of these.

http://www.alofthobbies.com/40cm-receiver-antenna.html

They come in different lengths between 160-600mm. You might also decide to use it as a source for the coax if you intend to solder direct to the pcb.
