I have a question about neutral width.
If I increase the neutral width on my esc; as I understand that increases the area that the esc will engage the drag break; since it brakes on neutral.
If that is the case; is it okay to fool around with that setting until you find a setting you prefer; or is that setting you really don't monkey with.
What is the typical setting for rc racing?
I race mostly on road; touring 17.5

I"m having an issue with one of my Gen2 RS esc's I use in my T5m. For the last several months ( I don't run this truck that often) I have noticed that the truck didn't seem as fast as it once was. I also noticed that I had a lot less brake than I once did. I went from a 10.5 to an 8.5 thinking it was the motor. I also upgraded the FW to 255 in the ESC, checked to make sure the current limiter was not on and recalibrated the throttle many times. It all just seemed really soft. Yesterday I decided to drop an old black case RS in the truck and it was all back to the way I once remembered it....very fast and LOTS of brakes.
So is my Gen2 just busted?

We get in a lot of service sent to us that in the end isn't the ESC at all. I'm just trying to help prevent that from occurring here.

I had trouble with the RS gen2 and ONLY swapped out the ESC. I left the sensor wire, cap, motor and all wiring that was connected to the GEn2 in the car and it worked perfect with the old RSGen1.
So how can it NOT be an issue with the RS Gen2? If I put the Gen2 back in and the sensor test failed then why does the old RS work fine?

Appreciate the assistance but I don't think we are on the same page.

Part of our job when assisting people is to assure that the problem is indeed a hardware issue, not a setting or external component in the car.

New to me Tekin rs gen 2
Purchased a used buggy with a Tekin RS Gen 2 in it. I hooked everything up and did the factory reset holding down both buttons on the esc and then began setting up the esc. The esc calibrates properly with my remote and runs. The esc will not hold my setting as is flashing 3,4,5, and then 1 repeatedly. Reading the instructions this appears to be "big event lockout mode". The directions say this can only be removed via Hotwire link. Is this the case that a factory reset will not reset this esc when it is in the mode and I need Hotwire to unlock it?

I'm having a weird issue with my RS Gen2, or at least I assume it may be the culprit. I am running in in a B6 on carpet with a Reedy 10.5 turn motor. The last few times I have run it, it has been cutting out. For the first 2 minutes or so on a freshly charged pack, it runs fine. Then it will start cutting out at the end of the longest straight away. It sort of surges, and you can here the motor cutting out at high rpm. After a few laps of that, it will shut off completely with the trigger pulled to full throttle. Releasing the throttle to neutral then pulling it again is enough to reset it and continue on. This happens with any battery pack. I tried my spare motor just to isolate the issue and it still did it. I also replaced the sensor wire. There are no heat issues either. ESC is 125 deg F and the motor is around 140. Any thoughts on what else to try / check?

I had a similar problem, ended up being the rx.

Thanks again for your quick reply. Yes, that's correct. We checked this and the lights are working properly on the ESC. We see the first light coming up and the motor makes this strange sound I mentioned, but no torque or RPM applied. When the second light comes up while pulling the trigger further, the motor bursts immediately to this level of throttle/power...
So it appears to be an ESC issue, yes, agree to your statement above...
