I'm new to the hobby, so I might have to check with my local track people, since they can actually hear it.

Thanks for you insight.
Pretty sure it's the brakes, have you heard the 4x4scts brake? They're loud, my t4.2 with RS g2 and g2 17.5 makes the similar sound when braking kind of a screech

With the tekin the esc makes a squealing sound when you apply the brakes that's normal for this esc guess it's so pose to simulate a real car going fast then locking the brakes up

We call it a Howl and it is considered very cool in most race groups. This is not because of how it sounds, but because of how it makes the brakes work so nicely

On a quiet track, while watching a fast driver, pay attention and you might learn something about what they are doing and where on the track to go fast.

I know the sound you guys are talking about. I'd call it more of a hum though. But I think it comes from the motor, not the esc. Quick test would be to hit the brakes while sitting still. Does it make the sound then? Or only when rolling?

It comes from the motor, and certain brands are much louder than others.

Absolutely! I was on the track with another 22T driver and he was giving me some beginner tips. Sadly, he did not have a Tekin system in his truck, so there were no sounds to listen for that were the same as my brake "howl"

Couple more practice days and I'm doing my first race this coming Sunday...

Good luck with your first race. Have fun with it and speed will come with time and experience!

If by glitch buster, that will not hurt. I run one as a habit now since I use Spektrum and they like to brown out given half a reason. But that is not a chronic issue with Tekin at all.. I just do it as a carryover habit these days.

If you mean a cap like one in line to the ESC from your LiPo that is not going give you much gain with a RX8 as they have a healthy bank of caps built in for that. You will not gain much for the effort on this.

Nope, no external caps needed for the esc.

But Tekin says in their manual:

The RS Gen2 is intended only for 1/10th scale and smaller vehicles that weigh under 5lbs ready to run.

Shouldn't be ok? How heavy is a DEX410 with lipo?

For stock 4wd buggy it should be fine. For modified 4wd buggy applications you should be running the RSX (or an RS Pro).

By weight yes, but the load in a 4mod with an 8.5 or lower is not what the ESC was designed for. The RSX is needed for 4Mod applications and it is very very close now!

What about a 5 pound 2wd SC running a 8.5 motor on 2s?
