Default 13.5 Brushless with timing - What are the options

Hi all,

I have just got back into the sport and dug out my Xray T2 with its Novak GTB and 13.5 brushless with tuning rotor. While I was away, they brought in variable timing. I am finding it difficult to work out what my options are for a fast 13.5 and ESC with variable timing allowed.

So far it seems the Novak Havok Pro SC which has Dynamic Timing Advance with a Ballistic is an option.

Also the Novak Impact and Pulse are options but more expensive.

What are the other options out there?

What are the best options?

The Tekin RS series ESC's are great, for 13.5 you only need the RS, also the new Hobbywing V3.1 are pretty sweet too, both are easy to setup if you invest in the programming card/hotwire for them.
As far as motors are concerned, most are a much of a muchness, I currently run the Thunder power which is pretty sweet, the speed passions are mean as well, also cheap on RC Mart at the moment, but if I was getting a new 13.5 i'd be hitting up the Duo 3.5, Had a Duo before and it was ballsy. If you get either of the ESC's I mentioned feel free to PM me and I'll flick you my ESC settings.

The Novak Havok Pro SC has been working well for me. It's extremely easy to program without any external card or laptop. We usually run fixed timing locally, but it takes just a few seconds to turn on the dynamic timing when necessary.

Hobbywing XtremeSTock 60amp, will handle down to a 8.5, small size, ultra reliable and very smooth on the throttle.
Can get them in either black or blue colour

Esc

Programming box - acts as both a interface to connect to a pc, and can adjust the esc settings using the 3 in 1 box connected to the esc.

Thanks for your input guys.

The Hobbywing Xtreme Stock 60A with a Speed Passion 13.5T would be $128 +post. Pretty cheap. The ESC has timing boost as well as turbo, but with 2S on-road minimum of 8.5T motor.

Novak Havoc Pro SC + 13.5T Ballistic is $195 but the ESC only has timing boost, not turbo. 540 and 550, down to 3.5T for 540.

The Xerun v3.1 has more tunability with its timing than either of the above, but costs $180.

Tekin RS $175 goes to 5T (2S or 3S) and has fantastic timing programmability but you must have the Hotwire software and hardware $30. It also opens up the option of running one speedy for multiple classes.

When my driving has improved enough and I am limited by my motor/ESC I will upgrade. My budget at the time will determine my choice.

Thanks again for your help.
