Default Brushless motor burnt?

I purchased a pre-owned motor, it looks like described, etc. The motor has a little smell to it. I have to put my nose within 1-2 inches of the can to smell anything. It's not a burn smell but it's definitely electrical. Is this normal?

I took the motor apart to clean - the insulation is fine. This is my first motor (first brushless ever) since '91 so bare with me lol. The smell is on my hands as well.

which may or may not be a huge issue. I got a Thunder Power 17.5 warm, to say the least, I didn't know if it would survive the day..It ran for a full year after that, continuing to "smell" the whole time, until the new owner (local) killed it, I mean he really killed it. (his fault)

The insulating material used to pot the windings can stink. As long as it doesn't smoke, run it. I've got a TP-Power 3674 4-pole that smells like that, and it runs fine.
