tekin rx8 question

Ok well background. I have a losing scte with the rx8 and 5200kv tenshock s411 motor. My lipos are not discharging evenly when I am using them. The will be balanced previous to use but 1 cell will be down to low. So its not even. What could be wrong

My guess is you have a battery that is not any good. I would look at replacing that battery as a lipo that does not balance right is going to prove unstable sooner than later.

Its doing it to all lipos even my new one.

U have to have GOOD batterys for a tenshock, it pulls ALOT of juice.

Carpet Racer69 01-03-2013 04:32 AM

U dont need Good batteries You Need High Discharge batteries. That actually deliver what they say... some just dont have what the label says Like nano techs..FYI there is no such thing as a 50C lipo false info at max the lipo cells can deliver is 32C Max and 50C burst for 2-5 seconds..

Its your batteries thats the only problem in this POST..

What's the voltage on the individual cells when this happens?

Mindcrimes 01-03-2013 09:36 PM

I'm using hobby people 35c lipos. I don't remember the voltage offhand. But it was off by 1v from the other cell

rallyredevo 01-03-2013 09:50 PM

How is that even possible to do? Maybe check them with another checker or different charger wires?

We did same result. When you blow up 2 lipos the same way in a row. I'm sure ive checked

I wasn't aware there was an absolute max discharge rate of lipo batteries. I guess my 6900 mah 100C batteries are really 32C?

What's the current limiting set at on the RX8? My initial thought would be the same as stated earlier.....your batteries just aren't up to the task whether they're new or used.

It's true...anything more than about 40c is just smoke and mirrors. When one company advertises a 65c pack the rest have to follow or risk losing sales. It's truly unfortunate for the consumer that there isn't a standardized testing procedure for lipo cells.

The current limit doesn't limit the max current overall, just how much it uses from a dead stop where electric motors make their most torque.

Correct, this is also the time that you're the hardest on batteries.

Well, I know the 6000 mah 75C Batteries were almost too hot to hold after 5 minutes, 6500 mah 90c were better at 130F, and my new 6900 mah 100C batteries run cool as a cucumber at just over 100F. So even if they aren't living up to their specs, they are measurably better.

My truck pulls over 4000 mah out of the battery in a 5 minute heat, so it's pushing 2s to the limit, whatever that limit may be. There is only 1 long straight at my track, and the rest is medium-slow finesse with a double-triple, and some technical bits, so imagine how many amps it's pulling WOT if i'm barely on-throttle the rest of the time.
