sorry Jimmy..something is a miss with those #'s on voltage..your system is showing #'s below said operastion voltage
Specifications Feature
MYLAPS RC4 Hybrid Transponder
Size (W x L x H) 16 x 19 x 6 mm
Weight 4.7 g (including holder)
Operating voltage 2.8 - 16.0 V
Power consumption *) 19 mA
Wire isolation PTFE / Teflon **)
Quick change holder Yes
Connector Generic receiver 3-pole
so if your system is correct then the entire RX in said car-truk is at 2.1-2.5v..so those cars will lose signal with transmitter ..just is puzzling to me..#'s are not Right ..something is way OFF...

What was really interesting about the information is, we had the loop setup near a corner. So as you were coming down the straight away, you made a turn. The guys with high end digital servos were pulling some juice to hold that corner. The voltage was coming up 2.1, 2.5. The reason they were pulling that much juice, we run carpet offroad. Servo was struggling to hold the high speed corner.
I'm interested in knowing where the best location to read the voltage. Seems there can be several scenarios.
1) Read from the battery or a spare channel slot on the receiver. Will the BEC have an effect?
2) If a receiver pack is used should you use the PT connected to a "Y" connector to read the receiver voltage?
3) Should you use the supplied female adapter and wire straight to main battery to read main battery voltage?
Of course it will depend on if your running electric or nitro.
Any thoughts?

If it's nitro just out of the receiver should be fine, you should still get an accurate voltage, running it directly off the battery would generally be interesting in electric, but then my Sanwa already can do that, but still interesting if you say get a voltage log from the transponder data info.

Loop placement: I think the loop placement doesnt matter. As long as cars are counted, and the loop is stable. When we purchased the RC2 system in 2001, the loop length was to be at 1foot apart. The new box says 2ft apart. When I called MyLaps, they said 1 ft is fine. I think the bigger loop gives the decoder more calculations to put the PT in the center of the loop (thats how it works). Bigger just makes the decoder calculate more, and may (or may not, not sure), send the info a little slower to the software.

lol @ FLUK..seen a few.. well seen alot.. thanks man..dint mean to torch ur post..just could not figure ur voltages out being so outa range with minimal volts..has anyone every tried to hook a 9v transistor bat up to a PT and see how long it lasts ?,,

AMB/MYLAPS HOUSE TRANSPONDER
Has anyone took personal transponders and put them in old rechargeable cases or some type of box and still use the charging rack so tracks can have house transponders.
For small local tracks and new racers rechargeable house transponders are a must have.

I had a vague idea involving using a personal transponder, and a rechargeable 9v NiMh battery, cause you can buy a rack charger for 9v batteries (charge like 10 at a time), and the personals will run off 9v, so solder on one of those clip on 9v plugs you can get, and instant club transponder if you then find something to put it in.

Guys we need some help..
We did the RC4 Decoder upgrade.. Ever since we got it we have had nothing but problems...
First one was it picking trucks up 10-20 feet away from the loop.. Ok, found out squelch is the adjustment... Now please just keep reading...
Next problem is it would pick up the New 3 wire rc4 when it wanted too.. Now my laps finally did come out and tell me that there are some issues being reported with the new transponders.. Send them in.. Ok..
Next is the one I absolutely can not figure out.. I dropped the squelch to 20, on both, the squelch, and car id squelch.. It ran 2 heats Perfect. Then all the sudden its picking up cars 10-20 feet away again.. Adjust it down to 10.. Pick them up far away still. I am down to 1 on the squelch and it still picks up the PT's 10 feet away.. And, when we run the mains. (RCScoring Pro. 20 car version). Line everyone up, start the main.. When everyone starts crossing the loop it ends the race.. Starts calling out, "your done" on the very first lap of the main..
I know everyone is going to tell me the box can not control the main.. But, Just hear me out.. 3 different laptops.. 3 different copies of RC Scoring Pro and we get the same result.. Now, if I hook up an older RC2 Decoder, I do not get this problem.. EVER! And i wont pick up the PT's 10 feet away..
I have talked with My Laps.. And they just give me the run around saying they have to email corporate and get back to me.. Well that was over a week ago.. And still nothing.. Does anyone know what I can do? Kind of mad.. a $3000 box and they wont give me much support..
Any help is appreciated!

Your going the wrong way on the squelch....the higher the number will suppress the transponder from picking up from a distance. How are you connected to the computer....rs232 or rj45? Do you use a serial to usb converter? Certain converters are known to cause problems.
What operating system? 32 bit or 64 bit?
Are your "protocol" settings set per your softwares recommendations? I think "remote" is the default setting.
Have you talked to your software tech support?
Maybe you have a bad decoder!

How are you adusting the squelch? I thought the rc4 decoder was like the rc3. I've owned an rc3 & rc decoder and there is no adjustment on them... Thought the only ones that had it are the AMB20 and older.
