What does it mean if it has a higher kv or lower kv? I ordered a 1700kv tekin rx8 combo that i am hoping will work for the brushless e maxx

kv x voltage = rpm

4 cells = 14.8v
5 cells = 18.5v
6 cells = 22.2v

ideally you need to be around 30 000rpm for racing, for bashing it depends on your temps

With a 1700kv motor the best is to use 5S lipos (1700 x 18.5 = 31450rpm), or 4S on smaller areas but you can use a lower kv motor with a bigger pinion too. I race with a 1400kv in 5S, it's only 25900rpm but I use a big pinion and the buggy is plenty fast enough. If you have 4S lipos you will have 14.8 x 1700 = 25160rpm. You will have less top end but more torque than a higher kv motor.
