Default overkill hobbywing esc question.

right now i have a 35a-3300kv hobbyking(one that came with their db) in my xxx-sct. But i want to get something a little more powerful.

i used to have a blitz with a tacon 3930kv and a ezrun 60a esc. Im going to order another one of these motors and was wondering if i can use one of the 80a ezrun black case escs with it. Yes i know its overkill running a 1/8 scale esc in a 2wd sc but i have the esc left over from a ebuggy i sold. Will it work and race correctly on 2s? or do u guys think ill have to get another 60a 10th scale esc cause of jerky startups and such.

thanks guys

I would sugest using a sensored motor and speed control. The Hobbywing extreeme stock and Any 17.5 or 13.5 sensored motor would be good

thanks for the suggestion but really didnt answer my question. plus ive had both tacon and sensored motors. and the tacon 540 motors are better IMO. and 13.5 would not be enough anyway

The jerky starts are because of the sensorless motor. Other than that you should be fine.

i didnt say it was jerky starts. when i ran my tacon and ezrun 60 ams they are not jerky. i was just worried about the esc being overkill for the motor.

That esc is not really good on 2s; you need an external BEC to make it reliable. It will be fine if you want to run it 3s.

Let me help. I've personally ran the ESC's and motors in 1/10's with 540's and 2s! 1st, let me ask what Hobbywing ESC you have. Ive ran the 120A SC8 on 2s & 4s in 1/8 and 1/10. It worked flawlessly! Now if its a XErun 80A it doesnt respond well with 2s. Hobbywing tech support advised against it *unless your running a external BEC. In which case its a great set up with a bec installed.
Theres really no overkill in ESC's. The motor draws whats it needs from the ESC. The ESC draws what it needs from the battery.

it is simular to this one except it is the older black one and does not run sensored motor. yes i know hobbywing dont make it anymore but its a good esc.
