I run the squares in my Desc410R and have absolutely no room for swelling. So far they have been excellent as long as I balance charge them. They lasy far longer than saddle packs, and no extra wire hassle.

Is there a thread on the smc esc?

Anyone ever had any issues with the inboard connectors on SMC packs? I have bought 5 or 6 packs in the past month or so and the latest was two 5000mAh 50C 2S packs and for the life of me I can't get any of my 4mm low profile bullets to plug into the positive terminal on one of the packs. All of the others work great. Any suggestions?

Just received a couple 6500 batts with same issue. Very tight fit so used pliers to adjust bullets to fit. 3500 and 4600 no probs.

I agree but if I were to use pliers to adjust the bullet it would be too loose for all of my other packs.

me too. guess we will have to wait til they break in a bit. in the meantime, maybe somewhere in between or spread them back to orig diam when using old batts. I am kinda using the new batts now so old batts are just sitting until my grandson gets his truck back working. now that I think about it, he will probably use old ones and I can use new ones.

The ports will wear in after a little use, they will still be tighter than any other pack.. but closer.
Better tighter than loose but yeah it is tough to go back and forth with other packs for a few days of running.

Specifically on the 2S 6000mah 80C race formula pack....has anyone had it swell/puff up?

Curious in trying out these packs. I had some 6900mah 100C Trinity Revtechs and they puffed up after a few charges. They haven't gotten any worse from almost a year, but still kind of annoying when mounting in my touring car.

What's the best way to figure out the ETA on the preorder packs? Email them? I know SMC gets shipments every ~month, but I'd like to know a rough estimate since I've seen the packs I bought on preorder status for a few weeks and I ordered mine a couple weeks ago...so I think there must be a delay or not enough orders.

Mine are about 2 months old and are doing great

SMC 5000 4S 50C

I bought 3 of these batteries as well as 2x 2s 5000 50C for y sons short course and charge them with a Hitec X2v at 8amps. I have never used LiPo before but I am 3 months in and racing a super competitive 1/8 e buggy class here in Northern Colorado. Batteries are working perfectly even in 10 minute mains in 90+ heat. Very Happy.

+1
I'm 6 mos in for 7200 inboard! Very happy with the performance and the cells are perfectly balanced. Low IR as well. No puffing or swelling for me but I do balance in every charge and condition my batts weekly!
Just ordered more.

The larger milliamperes batteries are reaching the maximum physical dimensions that can fit in the case. The 6000's do not have this issue. 6900-7600 are all at about the limits with no room for any type of swelling.

Had my first run on smc batteries today ran a 4s 6500 race formula pack and it was outstanding heaps of power and huge run time won't be buying any other overpriced packs from now on. Very happy customer thanks coast 2 coast RC and SMC great product

mtpocketsracing 08-03-2014 04:50 AM

slight puffing is considered normal of any lipo I read.

I did have one smc battery go bad but the rest (4) have been just fine and used for over and close to a year on all of them. and used 6-8 times a day once a week.

my durango dnx408 e converted will run 12-15 mins no problem on a 4s 5000mah 50c (factory spec) battery powering a Tekin T8 2000kv motor using a viper vtx-8 esc and a savox HV sb2270sg servo. I'm very happy with these batteries. although the hard case is very thin and offers no real protection. it will not prevent impact damage. just be sure to strap them in very securely and you should never have a problem
