Default Sidewinder sV2 question

I have a B44.1 with a Castle 3800 KV motor, Castle sV2 speed control, 5500 mAh 50c saddle pack and 18 tooth pinion.....after 5-6 laps, the motor is less then 120 degrees, but the speed control is 175+?! Any ideas why? I have repositioned the controller as well as cutting holes in the body to improve air flow, all to no avail. I know this is a low budget s/c for this car, but I just bash, no racing and it runs fine with my track mates.....thanks in advance for any and all help.....

These systems are sensitive to gearing. If you can get a 16t pinion on there, or go up from say 81t to a 84t (add a few more teeth to the spur) you will notice a change in temps. Also some mfg's are now staying not to run the esc's for the full charge of the battery because they will get hot, run them 5-6 min then stop. I say just get the gearing right and run as long as you do not overheat it.

That is undergeared, not over. I would rather try a 24 or 25t pinion to see the temps. Also those ESCs really need a good cooling fan, and using an external BEC also helps a lot.
