2.4g antenna length?

Opinion on how much of the antenna needs to run up the tube? Without bunching it up in the reciever box my antenna tube is about 6" long and extends out of the body. Would prefer it to be shorter and not stick out but not sure if I will have reception issues at the track.
Ok to coil some of it up in the reciever box?
I have seen other trucks with just a stub of an antenna so I'm thinking it's ok but don't want to lose signal at the track.

Lately, I cut the tube so that it doesn't touch the body. I run the antenna up the tube and bunch the remainder inside the receiver box or coil it up out of the way on the road cars. I've never had any receiver issues.
I've got an older Futaba receiver on my SC10. On this one, I am running about a 6" tall tube, but bent it back 90* about halfway up

What kind of receiver? 2.4GHz antennas are generally tuned and cut to quarter, half, or full-wave lengths. If your antenna is a coax type, coil the portion closest to the RX in a wide/gentle circle and try to get your antenna portion (the thin part near the end) straight.
If it isn't a coax type antenna (to my knowledge only some Spektrum and ultra-cheap receivers have non-coax antennas), you should not bundle them up anywhere.
You shouldn't have issues with it inside the vehicle with a decent radio system. Mine are all up an antenna tube that I zip tie to the rear shock tower (like a tail over the transmission), and my range/reception issues even on large outdoor tracks.
