Default Another MMM ? Wiring Batteries

SO i have a customer at my store who has a Redcat Avalanche XTE. Its a BL 8th scale equipped with a HW 80A esc, but the ESC is wired to run dual battery packs. ( I BELIEVE these are in Series) however the MMM only has a single + and - wire. Since I have to wire it and make work, will I hurt the ESC? If i wire the ESC to accept 2 batteries, will I cook the ESC?

I know the ESC is capable of handling 6s, but usually its done using a single battery. This customer is using 2 identical batteries.

However I am still a little confused with how the voltage will affect the ESC. I know that in the case of the Traxxas ESC for the smaller 16th scale, you can run Series, but not parallel. (I think). I just don't want to poof a new ESC when I wire it up.

Here is the rig its going in. I've already modified a mount to accept the motor, now its just a matter of getting it installed.

You can solder two wires to the MMM as usual, put a deans or whatever connector you would like. Then make an adapter to connect to the ESC that series (or parallel's) the batteries.

So in this diagram they did not make the connection in between the battery and esc. I recommend doing that as you can plug the batteries in the adapter then power up the esc at once by plugging in the adapter.

For your voltage concerns, series connection, as previously shown/discussed, doubles voltage. So for example:

Pair of 2S 5Ah packs = 4S 5Ah
Pair of 3S 5Ah packs = 6S 5Ah

Just don't try to use a pair of 4S in series. Correct to use identical packs, even keep and use them together throughout, to reduce low cell issues from the packs being slightly different in capacity.

I checked out the included batteries. They are 2s so it would add up to 4s in series.

That seems odd. If it comes with both the batteries and the ESC, I would of expected it to be already wired. Oh well.

I think the owner wanted to replace the esc maybe.

Correct. The original ESC came pre-wired for a series connector and the replacement upgrade, the MMM, is wired for a single battery.

The Deans "Y" harness would be an option IF he used Deans. it uses these silly banana plugs, so I'll just adapt the old harness.

Thanks for the insight.
