Alright, I've been out of this game for a long time. About seven years or more. I have slowly been putting together a 1/8th scale set up to get back on the track, and start getting back into club racing. I picked up an older Ofna buggy for 75 bucks, and an old pal sold me a Sportwerks .21 v2, clutch, and jp1 pipe for 75 as well. I bought a brand new ofna chrome top starter box, and gel cell. I had an old 525mg Hitec I am using for steering, and then moving that to throttle brake once I get a nicer steering servo. My goal here is to get all the radio gear as well as the running gear and pit supplys built up, and then eventually move them to a newer buggy *jq the car I think* once I see if I really want to get back into racing or not. I currently have an old Tq3 AM radio in here, that I had laying around, and its causing issues, I keep losing signal when the car is running after about 5 mins.
So I'm trying to get a nice radio for as close to 100 dollars used or new that will last me a season or two. My options are looking like
New flysky ft3c
Used hitec lynx 3d ( I used to have one, loved it )
Used airtronics m8 (lots of my track mates used to use these.)
I can get a synth hitec tx, and three xtal rx's for under a bill, seems like a steal.
I'm not sure if I need 2.4, I have never had it, and now with every one having it, i think that having three diff sets of xtals, a synth tx, and the ability to use synth fm rx's will be fine..
What do you think? I don't want to go blow a ton of money on a 500 dollar radio, just to play around for a few weeks and realizing I dont really enjoy the hobby as much as I used to. I want to keep this as cheap as possible, something reliable with proper functions ( expo, DR, hopefully sub trims ) that if I decide I want to get out, I can sell at little loss, or if I decide to stay in, I can upgrade and re sell or keep around for other vehicals.
