Default Lifespan of AMB

One of my year old AMB seems acting up, wires look good, light stay on steady but the house only read twice during 6 min heat. How can you tell is the transponder good or bad ? Its one of the older model with 3 tabs.

Had my 3 about as long. Never a problem! Is yours the only one acting up? Make sure all 3 wires are plugging into the receiver properly. If someone else runs yours, does it do the same thing? You try using someone elses and see if problem transfers to other receiver or is it just yours. I've heard of a couple of guys having to cut the bottoms of theirs out to resolder a broken wire but...If you can try another one with your receiver and all works well, then the problem lies within the transponder.

It can. With on road cars there are problems if you mount it on graphite. Try mounting it where there's a clear shot to the ground (assuming your transponder loop is in the ground)

I talked to AMB about this a few years ago. Some dont's to follow.

Must be mounted flat on its back side, not on its side. This reduces the field of the antenna.

Try to avoid mounting on metal or carbon fiber. It also reduces the signal.

Avoid mounting on servo's or other electrical devices. The electrical devices to make electromagnetic fields, which also reduce its signal.

Think there is one more, cant remember it.

Buddy this past weekend determined his 12 Year old PT was on the fritz. Slapped a Brand new one in and the Problem's are gone.

So yes PT's Can wear out over time.

the way it's installed makes a big difference, switch PT's with one that works in another car to check.
