New LRP Flow Esc
#1262
Hi Guys,
I have just bought a flow Works, and have had a couple of issues with it.
When connected to either my Trinity D3.5 or D4 (13.5/blinky) it will not hold a constant rpm/speed (doesn’t seem to affect full). It speeds up then down and so on.
The other problem is after applying throttle and coming to neutral when the car stops it will then accelerate a little then stop then accelerate then stop etc.
I have tried sensor cables, resets, lastest firmware I even have new radio gear(sanwa from spektrum). It does not have the above issues when I use a Reedy Mk2 but it ran hot on the 1.4 firmware (esc would shutdown due to motor temp)
Has anybody experienced similar issues? Any advice would be appreciated thanks
I can stop the 2nd problem by setting the trim back a little but the 1st makes mid speed corners unpredictable.

I had the same problems with DSM1 Spektrum gear, the ESC was horrible, changed to Futaba and all problems went away and the ESC works perfectly.
If you have a servo tester try testing the ESC with it instead of a radio.

I was going to peek inside to see which microcontroller was used, while in there I noticed a couple of things
The LRP Flow split case design has let a surprising amount of dirt inside of it..
and this! Not sure if that is a resistor or capacitor, but it's not on right..
full size

I'll have to compare it to my other two flows on my oscilloscope or something. It appears to be working fine...

Looks like a diode, you should be able to identify it as a diode with a multimeter. I would just solder it back to its correct location with a fine tipped iron.
it is not uncommon for ESC's to get dirt in them, some seal better than others however it pays to clean them out every now than then. Same goes for receivers.

Killed my capacitor (badly dented) and prefer the standard round one to the works team bank one.
Anyone know if the Lrp glitchbuster (LRP BEC Stabilizing Capacitor [LRP80135]). Is the same as the included vanilla flow capacitor?

I have cross polled my Works (i know, i know) and it let the smoke out.
It is still able to turn on, and the LED blinks appropriately for throttle position but doesn't drive the motor.
Just wondering if anybody thinks it maybe fixable? And where in Australia I might send it if so?

For anyone else looking for a capacitor replacement.
Received an email answer from LRP America.
Theconfirmed the "LRP BEC Stabilizing Capacitor [LRP80135]" is the same capacitor supplied with the flow esc.
Sorry cplus
