Anyone running a 4.5? What settings are you using for sedan?

40-50m long straight

Damn 130+ft straight! Our straight is usually 30ish meters, but is less than that for the next week. Any suggestions for me? Just gear down to a 9-9.5 fdr? This will be my first time running mod.

Definitely start it at blinky Mackie. 9.0 should be close, and set your motor timing to neutral/middle. I don't know all the settings on the flow, but if you bring th manual and your car to my room I;ll get a set up on it that should be a good start.

Has anyone run an Lrp x12 17.5 in blinky and had it not be a turd? I put a brand new one in my sedan today geared at 3.8 with one less than max timing and it had no punch and wasn't very fast on the straight(172 on motor after 5 minutes) I geared down to a 3.96 and gained some punch but it was still slow.(temped at 180 after 5 minutes) is this motor just slow or what am I doing wrong? My d3.5 maxzilla on the same layout is money with max timing and a 3.7 fdr.

Its more or less slow. You might be able to get a little more performance out of it, the best luck we had with it in blinky was with middle timing insert and like ~3.8-3.9 gear, or gear it to run ~215f. The X12's can handle more heat than others. But other than that, youd be better served with your d3.5, or if your looking for a ROAR legal option, Reedy Sonic. Myself and my friends ran x12's for a while when boost was still in, and it is a great boost motor, but for blinky we came to the same ends you have, not the fastest for blinky. My Sonic @ 48* timing and 4.06 gear is every bit as fast as a d3.5

By middle timing do you mean the one that is completely flat. The one that sits like this?

I've run the reedys in the past and was very pleased!! Thanks for the help, ill give it a shot tomorrow and see how it goes. Worst case ill put it in my f1 until I get a 21.5 for it.

Yes, the 2 dot insert. Like I said, they handle heat better, 215*f on an X12 is like 170 on anything else, so you may be able to find more, but I think you will be better off with a product of the blinky age :)

Even with ambient temps around 68-74 I should still gear to 200? Ill definitely be racing with my d3.5s/ reedys but I might as well get some use out of this motor. Lol I appreciate all of the help!

Absolutely. If its hot out, like 90+* outdoors, You could prolly even go 220-225. They just run hot to get anything out of them, its a fact of life. Everyone in our area came to this conclusion, and they seem to be able to take it. Most blow ups occurred around 240-250+, so at 215-220 you have about the same 20-30* buffer you have at 170-180 with any other motor. I know it sounds crazy, but once you run it once or twice like that you will see it handles it fine with no fade in power :)

You're the man! I hope they come out with a competitive 17.5. Is the x12 13.5 the same way?

purchased my LRP flow worksteam the other night for use with my Yeah racing Hackmoto 13.5T 3000kv motor.

I never tried the 13.5, but I would imagine it is the same way. The X12 mod motors ive used are somewhat the same in that they run hot, although with a 5.0 power isnt an issue lol. It will be interesting to see if they do X20 spec motors, I would definitely try one :)
