coging with cc bec

so i was getting brown outs with my spektrum 6040 servo and my sv2 esc.
the brownouts started after i ran at least 20-30 packs with no problem.
so i installed the cc 10amp bec.
and now it cogs hjas anyone heard of this with the bec.
with a reciever pack it works great.
and the motor is a cc 1410 3800.
what else could i do to fix this problem.
thanks for any and all advice.
mike

Got a pic of yopur wiring? Is the red wire in the rx lead of the ESC still connected ?

crusey_aus 07-02-2012 02:25 PM

If it is indeed "cogging" that you are experiencing its unlikely to be related to the external bec

Does the ESC calibrate correctly to your transmitter ?

What ESC settings are you using ?

You can try rolling back the software revision on the ESC, it often fixes random problems

Cheers

the red wire has been removed.
it works fine with a reciever pack.
im wondering if the speedo is on its way out.
it worked fine for 25 or more packs just started to brown out.
i was going to get a mmp but ive heard i could have the same probllem with that as well

maybe its not coging but its stuttering like when i hit the throtle it accelerates but on and off

my radio is a 3pmx nothing set on the settings full power throttle

ok so i tried it again.
i unpluged the reciever pack and pluged the bec back in.
from a dead stop mash the throttle it stutters or skips and goes about 6 or 7 times then it takes off.

Have you tried turning down the punch control to see if it's your batteries?

how many ma is the receiver pack ?

68sportcoup 07-03-2012 06:31 AM

Receiver pack is 1700
Punch control is off

Does the ESC calibrate correctly to the transmitter (with trims etc ... set ) ?

Try rolling back the ESC firmware

Cheers

With the receiver pack it works fine trims work I can slow it down with the radio
I'll have to try the older firmware when I get home

There are a few things that could cause this problem.

Binding in the linkage:
Remove the servo horn & check for any bind in the linkages. This can cause a servo to pull more amps than either of your bec 's can provide & cause the motor to cog on take off.

Check your servo:
Rapidly turn the steering back & forth ( with the transmitter) & check if the servo is getting hot.

A receiver battery pack of 1700ma should be able to supply more amperage than a 10 amp bec.

Also like was mentioned earlier your main battery could be weak.
A watt meter wired in line with your bec or servo would tell you if you are exceeding your bec's ability.

A Watt meter is what I use to diagnose my radio system for these problems.

An example of a watt meter

Most hobby shops carry some brand of one as they are commonly used in rc

Hope this helps

What did you connect the input of the BEC to? Take a picture if possible.

68sportcoup 07-03-2012 12:13 PM

The bec is soldered on right at the deans connector on the esc
And yes the polarity Is correct

Did you check/change BEC settings with Castle Link? Isn't only set for 5.1v out of the box (bag)?
How many (and type) of cells is the Rx pack?

68sportcoup 07-04-2012 06:33 AM

We turned the bec up to 6v
I'm not sure how high I could go
I run 2s 6000 packs
The reciever pack is 5 cells 1700
