Default how to wire an external BEC?

It happens that I need an external BEC for my MMP with the digital servo that I am running. However, can someone show me how to wire the BEC and the ESC? I looked at the Castle Web Site and saying that I need to disconnect the red wire from the ESC. It is the correct way to connect them? I also have seen others without disconnecting the red wire from the MMP. Please advise.

Thanks.

what ive seen people do with esc's that dont have easy solder tabs is they cut a little piece of rubber wire cover off the desired wire needing to be soldered to so there is a little bit of open exposed wire then solder to that then shrink tube it if this makes sense hopefully i explained it clearly

I did per instructions from Castle. I'm using the 10a adjustable with a Rx8, works great.

so.. just cut the negative and positive from the battery wire on the ESC and connect with the BEC? that's it?

Yes. To put it simple the red wire is the one that supplies the power, and if you connect both the one from the esc and the one from the external bec you will let the smoke out. See the wiring diagram on Castle BEC product page.

Use a small servo extension lead with the red wire removed or a servo 'y' cable, makes life a lot easier rather than removing the red wire from the throttle lead (which you need for programming the ESC)

Cheers
