Default Receiver pack runtime

So I'm currently running an Ofna micro fail safe, paired with an Integy 1400mah 5-cell receiver pack for my rs4-3. I ran my car yesterday for about 30 minutes total (1-1/2 tanks), with a short break between (maybe 7-10 minutes?). During that second run, my fail safe cut off the throttle as it was detecting my battery voltage was "low".

My concern is whether or not this runtime is normal. I am aware that there are all sorts of factors that affect the runtime of the battery (drain from the servos, temp, etc.), but it just seemed like it should've lasted a little longer. I've tried to do some research on runtime and I get all sorts of results. Some say 30, some say an hour, some say a couple hours!

Another thing I should point out I guess is when I last charged the pack. I had charged it about 4 days prior to running my car, so obviously the pack had lost some of its charge over those couple of days. Do ni-mh packs lose their charge THAT fast though?

...and what's probably even more important lol, is the charger I'm using. I'm currently using a Hitec (cg-s45) overnight charger (yuck right? ), and it pretty much just charges until you unplug it. I wish I had just spent the extra 15-20 to get a decent peak charger rather opting for the cheaper path. My guess is that I'm not getting anywhere near a full charge OR I'm damaging the cells by overcharging with this overnighter, and that's what is affecting my runtime?
