Default Can A Plane/Heli Radio Be Used For Boats?

I want to use my boat fpv and want the range something like the DX5e would offer.

I assume I would place the throttle stick at centre and set the speed controller forward and reverse from there. I realise I would have to physically place the stick at centre to stop the boat i.e. It wouldnt automatically go to the neutral position like a 2 channel radio would. But thats all fine.

Anyway my query is with the left and right motion of the aileron stick. With a receiver with 2 aileron outputs is it possible to control a single steering servo on the rudder of a boat, or the steering servo of a car for that matter...?

Comments appreciated.

Muchas gracias.

Actually just saw a pic for the AR600 and there is only 1 aileron output. So I think that should be ok.

Still interested if anyone notices any potential problems. with steering or throttle.

Yes and no.

The FCC set aside specific frequencies for model aircraft and land based vehicles. So as long as you are not doing anything illegal, you should be ok. Procced as is, untill aprehended

As far as performance, I wouldnt see why not.

Thats cool. Do you have reverse in your boat? Do you think the manually holding the stick in centre and setting the speed controller forward and reverse from there is ok?
