Default Looking for ESC/motors guide

Does anyone have any good references for calculating ESC and motors?

EDIT: to be a little more specific, which esc specs would be required to run a certain motor (3300kv for example)

Motor manufacturer should list a burst amp rating (Watts divided by Volts)

In an ideal world your ESC continuous amp rating should be greater than your motors burst rating

Example
100 amp burst motor (740 watts @ 2s)
120 amp ESC
150 amp battery (5000mah 30c)

Cheers
