Default adding to antenna

i have a associated b4.1 that i got from another tech on here. i am having problems with the range on the receiver.

i was told there is a way to "add" to the antenna to increase the range. is this a myth??

Its the stock 2.4 that comes with the b4.1

oh well i had one of those as well because i bought a b4.1 rtr and it had awesome range more then i ever could have needed it sounds like maybe there is glitching or just something wrong with either tx/rx
