Default Good Basic Aftermarket Rx & Tx

I am not new to the hobby, but I am looking for a good aftermarket 2.4Ghz receiver and transmitter for under $65. I will be using it to control a MERV(Traxxas Mini E-Revo VXL). I mainly bash, but I do go to the track every once and a while for fun. I don't need anything fancy, but I would like something nice. I was looking at the DX2E by spectrum... something like that probably. Whatever you guys think of, let me know. Thanks for your help in advance.

I've always had good luck with the spektrum radios myself. Even tried the tactic 2 channel and it worked good. You might look at picking up a traxxas 2.4 also people seem to sell them pretty cheap on here. I still run one in my 4tec nitro and I don't have any problems with it.

I know its not quite on the level of a Spektrum, but I bought a few of the Flysky GT3B's and we love them. They are only ~$40.00 at hobbypartz with receiver, and extra receivers are only ~$8.00. For a radio with full expo, end point, ABS, 10 model memory, it's a heck of a deal IMO.

Some of the lower-end Spektrum systems can have a perceptible delay in responding (they have 15ms+ response times) and there are several posts dealing with the Flysky stuff having imprecise/jerky inputs from the transmitter itself. If you're not opposed to overspending the $65 limit by five bucks, you simply can't beat Futaba's quality.

I use the flysky fs-gt3b fron Hobbypartz. I think it is a great radio for $35. Recievers are only $8 which is great cause I have alot of cars. I've had Futaba and Airtronics radios and I sold my other radios when I got the flysky.

Do you guys have any complaints about the Flyky radio?

I do not personally own one, but I plan on getting the FS-GT3c once it comes out.

I have only heard good things about the flysky radios, and I know there is custom firmware out there that makes it even better.

Flysky all the way. I have been racing RC for over 20 years and think this is one of the best deals available. Tons of people will talk about all of the complaints they have heard or about some guy at the track who had one and it was junk, but when you read reviews from people who actually own the radio it is overwhelmingly positive reviews. It does have a slow response, but with a servo that is too fast and adjustments for throttle response this is very easy to hide. Even in 12th scale I have no problem running equal laptimes to my Futaba 3PM FM in HRS mode, which is supposed to be faster than any 2.4 system. By my second lap with the Flysky I had forgotten there was a difference. I searched and researched before buying the Flysky and I never saw a single complaint about imprecise/jerky controls. I have only been using it for about a month so I have no real long term reliability to talk about, but based on the amount of use I have so far I would not go back to Futaba unless I was actually racing for money. This is based on my Flysky GT3B with upgrades I installed from OverkillRC.com.
