Drop at least 1 pinion and the motor timing will be higher

Brief update from the 2016 ROAR Nationals.

SchuurSpeed won 17.5 SCT, 2nd in Stadium Truck, and 4th in buggy. We had 4 and 5 motors in ALL stock mains. Mostly customers which is so cool for us.

Quick one Ron. I have a choice between two Hobbywing ESC's to pair with my SchuurSpeed 17.5T to run in stock blinky.

My old XERUN 120a V2.1 or a new XERUN XR10 Justock (that I initially bought to throw in my old car for my son). Which would be the best option?? Does the new XR10 Justock have any advantages over the older 120a V2.1 or vice versa??

XR10 JustStock at this stage of progress in esc's would perform better than the V2.1

first time trying out a SchuurSpeed. Bought a 13.5T Extreme Stock Spec for my TLR 22-4 2.0 buggy. Gearing at 76/26. ESC HW Stock Spec V3.1 (default setting) Motor timing is factory setting. I need a little bit more punch , After 8 minutes motor was temping at 150F. I ended up getting a fan. Any suggestions or comments ?

Not sure what size track but you might be over geared (need a smaller pinion) if your at 150F at this time of year your loosing performance.

But the timing set on them is typically in the area of 35 degrees, which for a buggy is low. I'd suggest increasing timing the thinkness of 2 fingernails.

Anyone got experience running a B44.3 with 17.5 V3??

I'm running 72/31 gearing and about 38 deg end bell timing. Temp is getting to 165-170 after 5 min. Too hot for my liking.

On the same track with a B5m I run 72/34 with 45 deg end bell and only hit around 140.

Thinking I have to either reduce end bell timing or gearing before I damage the motor.

I don't have direct experience, but I always ran a 69t spur on my B5m with good results.

That being said, I wouldn't be concerned with 170° if that's as hot as it gets. Most motors are good till 180° safely without damage. Cross that line, and I'd be concerned.

Default TC 17.5 blinky motor

I want to buy a SchuurSpeed "SELECT" SPEC 17.5t V3 SHORT STACK Motor - Plus Options.
What rotor, bearing and timing do you recommend?

I run a AE TC6.2 with Blinky ESC and 3.75 FDR.

thanks

Anybody run Ron's new modified motors? Wondering how they differ from the Hobbywing V10 Gen2. Same materials and tolerances as the spec class motors? But how much does that matter in mod?

Default 17.5 ss

We have two of the 17.5 short stacks for oval racing and the boards look to be pretty rough. Has anyone checked one yet and care to post the numbers? I got 1.6 and 1.8 on the two I have had for deviation checked on a motolyser. Can I expect to see better if I buy more sensor boards?

I hate how no one has an answer for the question what's the fastest 1)10 scale motor. I have a dynamite tazer 4000 with 80 amp esc and 5500 mAh 3c 20c 11.4v and a 84t 48 p steel spur completely aluminum. Serious I can't find anyone with buggy truggy that can hang. My bro-inlaw has castle sidewinder set up and it's not close. I can give cars a 50" start and smoke them in 400". I am looking for a shuur speed motor that'll run good because it'll match my set up better.

I have a Select extreme stock spec 1s V3 with a SELECT 12.5x25.2 rotor (I'm assuming this is the 1650+ SELECT rotor) with the stainless bearings and factory set at 46 degrees timing. I am using this for stock buggy on a medium sized carpet track. I keep my B6 around 1530g.

What would the optimal timing/ gearing for this motor? Thanks!
