Default Slash 4x4 problems

I am running a tekin sc4x 4.5t Motor and MMP with a JR9000s servo. I just finished setting up my slash 4x4. It works but when I turn for say 2- 3 seconds the mmp fan starts slowing down and everything locks up. The steering gets stuck turning right or left and the throttle won't work. Whats happening? It seems like the servo is drawing to much power because when I turn left or right the fan slows down. But I don't understand how it locks up everything? (Throttle, Steering, everything...)

Are you positive it is all setup properly. My buddy had some similiar problems when he converted to a new motor/ESC on an HPI, but he just had it setup wrong.

Hopefully someone else can chime in as I am still relatively new, I have the same truck, but with the stock brushless setup. Hope you get it working man.

Common problem with the weak internal bec on the MMP

Add an external bec

MMP is known for a weak bec, put an external bec in and you should be good to go.

I added a cap and it didn't do anything. Wouldn't a cap fix the bec issue?

Cap sometimes helps but to rule out a bec issue add an external

Caps only help to add current during a brief sag in power availability.

Problem is, the MMP's BEC is so weak, the cap never has a chance to recharge.

External BEC will be your fix, sadly.

Caps don't add current they simply assist in holding the voltage up under load, ie stops the receiver from browning out due to low voltage in some cases

Many get away with using them but an external bec does a bit more

Only downside is the little extra cost, no brainer to add one on most ESC's

Cheers
