Default Help! ESC or Motor Problem?

I bought a Losi Ten SCTE off of another member. It came with a Tekin RX8 and Tekin 4.5 motor. When I first got it, the motor was making some interesting noises and wouldnt spin up. Whatever I tried it wouldn't get better (different receiver, sensor cable, rebinding with a different spectrum radio, recibrating the RX8).

Convinced it was a bad motor, lhs agreed, I had the seller send out a second motor. Hooked it up am its better but still makes the strange noise where it tries to spin but doesn't. What's really strange is that everything gets incredibly hot within a minute. I took it out in the driveway to do some figure 8s and the motor got hot enough that 2 of the wires unsoldered themselves. ESC was hot, even the battery cable felt hot. This is all within a minute of driving up and down the driveway. Before I damage something, I need some guidence.

First things first, have you checked the motor or truck for binding with the motor removed? Are you certain the gear mesh is correctly set? I know these may be insulting if you know what you are doing, but we have to be sure before we continue. It is not recommended to rev a motor to high RPMs without a load, but you should try and run it lightly out of the truck to determine if the sound/binding is coming from the truck or the motor first and go from there. If the motor is simply cogging and not turning it will certainly heat up to dangerous levels very quickly.

Thanks for getting back. I have some videos if it helps at all.

First one is with the original motor, the second is with the replacement (still used) motor. The new motor isn't as bad as the first and it doesn't make that horrible screeching noise but under load it does the same cogging like symptoms. When the motor does drive the truck it never really gives that jump I feel it should.

The mesh seems good so I don't think it's that and the car rolls fine without any motor.

Is the ESC configured correctly for a sensored motor ?

Are the motors wires connected in the correct order (ABC) ?

Cheers

It sounds like the a b c wires are not correct. Been there done that non sensored does not matter but sensored does. I would try swapping them around.

Sorry for the late relply. I just received my brand new Pro4 4600kv to try because I haven't heard back from the person I bought it from and I'm impatient. It's definately better again but I still hear a slight noise before the motor spins up but it does get up to speed and drives normally. I'm going to try messing with the Neutral Width setting and see if I can improve it at all with that, I'm done for tonight. I haven't driven it too much, only around the garage but I don't think it's getting hot like the last 4.5 Redline I used.

Wiring is fine and I'm seeing the signal lights (567) on the RX8 at the sensor is working. Using Mode 3 on the Motor Type (brushless, fwd/brk/rev with delay)

I have an 8ight E with an RX8 and T8 motor and I don't hear any of the same noise I'm hearing with the SCTE.
