servo connector replacement
#1
Hi , does anyone have a web site or utube vidio on replacing servo connectors? I'm having a hard time replacing the pins. I'm using a crimping tool. And the problem is setting the pins to lock in. Is there maybe a tool for pushing the pins to set? Hitec servo, cut the lead to shorten the leads to save space in the receiver container.
appriciate any info.

What is your specific difficulty? The terminals ("pins") are typically inserted into the housing via hand. If they simply won't go into place, then you may have distorted the terminal with the crimper. If the crimping tool die is too wide, the resultant crimp won't fit into the housing cavity. Use a narrower crimp if this is the case. If you crimp too hard (excessively low crimp height), then the terminal can take on a banana-like shape. The solution here is to either adjust the crimper (if possible) or simply not squeeze the crimper as hard.
If the terminals insert into the housing but won't stay in place, check the little barb on the terminal - it's really easy to flatten them while assembling the connector.

Thanks for the help. I'll try again. The cripping tool doesn't seem to be the problem. It's when I try to push the pins in, they kind of deform at the end where they enter the connector. I tried to pull on the wire to see if they would hold. One wire came off the pin. I just need more experience and try being more patient.
Thanks
