Default choose a battery pack

Hi I model 0 gauge ijn the garden R/ C & would like to pick your brains. I use around 14/19mm wheels, 40;1 GEARBOX and mashima flat can motors & am quite happy for my loco to have a top speed of about 50mph scale, thus I do not want a battery pack that gives a short burst for a sudden dash of speed, which is what I imagine the xar boys want. I want low down powerfull GRUNT that lasts.
I usually build my own NiMh pack from tagged AA batts so I can pack them any where within the loco body but I find that the charge does not hold for a long time abd doed not have as much lasting opower as I would like. Am, I economising too much by using the cheapest batts I can get or doesn't it really matter. Any learned adsice would be of great help. Thanks

You can use a lipo battery with a some what of a low c-rate, that will give you some punch but the long run times as well.

What size (mah) cells are you using. If they are not at least 2300+mah, you can gain run time by switching to higher capacity cells. You will get better performance from the higher priced cells - they will last and perform better than the cheaper ones, but have to be treated properly.

Hi guys. thanks for replies & beleive that I must stop being a cheapskate & invest in better batteries.Lipo I reckon is probably way to go but so far I have blown up 2 and set another on fire. Must try again.
It is wonderful that in these days I can communicate with Texas & Florida direct from Hereford UK. Amazing!! Chris

You must be doing something wrong with lipos if that has been your experience. You may be way over discharging them, or charging them wrong.

They have been pretty stable in my experience.
