Default Sensored Brushless ESC with a 7.4v BEC???

HI, does anyone know of a Sensored Brushless ESC with a 7.4v BEC so I can take full advantage of my High voltage servos? or should I just be running the receiver straight from the 2s battery??

I'm open to all thoughts and opinions

Never heard of an ESC having a bec output of more than 6v

Why not just run an external bec / reg ?

Cheers

If you wire the battery's + terminal to the servo's + terminal but leave the servo's - and signal through the receiver you'll have the effect you're looking for and it takes the load off of your ESC's BEC.

You could probably just hook the + and - directly to the battery as well although I've never tried it. Either way should give the servo 7.4v.

The only disadvantage to this is that the servo will have power as soon as the battery is plugged in unless your ESC's switch actually turns the ground on/off. So if you're not in the habit of unplugging the battery, you could burn a battery down overnight by leaving it plugged in on accident. Just gotta make sure to unplug the thing. Also you're stuck with 2s lipos at that point. Don't forget and put a 3s in there or you'll have a smokey servo!

Which servos are those? The only high voltage ones I've seen, is KO Propo, and they have a separate wire, that connects to the battery.... But then again, I've been out of the loop for 4-5 years

LOTS of servos are coming out that are 7.4v compatible. The reason is so we can use 7.4v LiPo receiver packs without using regulators.

Hitec 7940/7950, JR has the 9100 HV series, and more Hitecs are coming that are cheaper. Futaba has a couple really high end servos now as well.

It's not caught on a lot yet but it's coming...

either just run them with a regular 6v bec esc
or

run them at 6v and time your laps

then

run them at 7.4 with an external BEC and time your laps

I will tell you now, they won't be faster

Bump for an old thread.

Are HV servos still exclusive to the nitro world or are brushless ESC's with 7.4v BECs becoming widely available?

Thanks

Viper ESCs have an adjustable BEC that goes 7v+. You just have to be careful running HV through a BEC because if the system voltage drops from high motor amp draw, you can have severe brown-outs. This is the reason I run a small (300mah) separate receiver battery.
